How to Stamp All Pages of a PDF at Once

By StampAPDF · Updated · How we write guides

To stamp every PDF page at once, use a text marksuch as PAID, COPY, RECEIVED, DRAFT, or CONFIDENTIAL in the free watermark tool. It applies the same text to all pages in one action. An image stamp, such as a company seal or a red PAID graphic, goes on with the Stamp & Sign tool, one click per page. PDF processing happens in your browser. Image stamps saved to the reusable library are uploaded separately.

This guide walks through both methods, shows where each one wins, and covers the placement checks that stop a stamp from hiding amounts, dates, or signature lines.

Need the image first? Download a free transparent PAID stamp PNG. It can be used with the page-by-page image method below.

Method 1: text stamp on every page in one action

Open the watermark tool and load your PDF. Then:

  1. Type the stamp text. Short, uppercase words work best: PAID, COPY, RECEIVED, APPROVED, DRAFT, SAMPLE, VOID.
  2. Set the opacity. The slider runs from 5 to 60% and opens at 15%, which reads clearly on most text pages without drowning them.
  3. Set the size between 20 and 120 pt, and keep Diagonal ticked for the classic 45-degree look, or clear it for a flat horizontal label.
  4. Download. The copy arrives with -watermarked added to the filename, and the same mark sits centered on every page — portrait and landscape pages are each measured on their own.

This is the method to reach for when the document is long. A 40-page agreement gets its COPY mark in one action instead of 40 clicks.

Method 2: image stamp, page by page

When the stamp has to be your actual mark — a red PAID graphic, a company chop, initials, a signature — use the Stamp & Sign tool:

  1. Add the image to the library once with + Add. A transparent PNG works best because the ink lands without a white box around it.
  2. Click the library thumbnail, then click the spot on page 1 where the mark belongs.
  3. Click the thumbnail again, then click page 2 — the selection clears after each placement, so it is thumbnail, page, thumbnail, page.
  4. Drag any copy to fine-tune it, resize it from its corner handle, and download when every page is done.

Each placement takes a few seconds, so this is comfortable for the documents people actually stamp page by page — contracts that need initials, or a short invoice batch. For anything long, switch to the text method above.

Which method should you use?

  • Status label on many pages (COPY, DRAFT, CONFIDENTIAL): watermark tool — one action, every page.
  • Red PAID mark or company seal: stamp tool with an image — full color, exact placement, page by page.
  • Initials at the foot of each page: stamp tool with a small initials image beside or below the text block.
  • Numbering rather than stamping: the page numbers toolwrites a sequential number on every page, which is usually what a reviewer asking for "marked pages" really wants.

Placement checks before you send it

  • Open the downloaded copy and look at the first page, the last page, and one dense page in the middle.
  • Make sure the mark does not sit on amounts, dates, reference numbers, or signature lines. For invoices in particular, the conventions in How to stamp PAID on an invoice apply to every page you mark.
  • If a text watermark fights with dark page content, drop the opacity toward 5% or shrink the size before you re-export — the original file is untouched, so a second attempt costs nothing.

Frequently asked questions

▸Can I stamp all pages of a PDF at once for free?

Yes, for a text stamp. The free watermark tool on this site draws the same word or phrase — PAID, COPY, RECEIVED, DRAFT, CONFIDENTIAL, or anything you type — through the center of every page in one action, and the whole job runs in your browser with no upload and no signup.

▸Can I put an image stamp on every page in one click?

Not in one click. The stamp tool places an image where you click, one page at a time: click the library thumbnail, click the page, and repeat. That takes a few seconds per page, which is fine for a typical contract or invoice but slow for a 100-page file. For long documents, use a text mark with the watermark tool instead.

▸Does stamping every page change my original file?

No. Both tools export a new copy — the watermark tool adds -watermarked to the filename and the stamp tool adds -stamped — and the file you opened is never rewritten. Keep the original until the recipient accepts the marked copy.

▸Can the all-pages text stamp be red?

No. The watermark tool draws its text in mid-grey Helvetica Bold, which is deliberate: a status label should be readable without hiding the page content. If you need a red PAID mark or a company seal, use an image in the stamp tool and place it page by page.

▸Is my PDF uploaded while it is being stamped?

No. Both tools process the document in your browser on your own device. The PDF is never sent to a server, which matters when the file is a contract, an invoice, or anything else you would not park on a random converter site.
